The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) is a leading university in Russia in the areas of public policy, public administration, business administration and management. At present, RANEPA is a leader in training top- level managers for the government, enterprises and organizations in Russia.

RANEPA is the only educational institution in Russia under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation.

The postulates of the university were established in 1946, when the Academy of Social Sciences was formed, under the order of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, for the top of the party, to train employees in the central and regional party organizations, as well as university professors and researchers. The Academy of National Economy (ANE) served as the foundation and the main driving force of the new Presidential Academy. It was founded in 1977 and over time became the leader of management training in economics, business and law. The Russian Academy of Public Administration (RAPA) and the 12 academies of civil service provided 80% of the training for the highest political leadership and civil servants of Russia. With the merger of ANE, RAPA, 12 other regional civil service academies in 2010, the Russian Presidential Academy became the largest of socioeconomic and humanities universities in Russia and Europe, rightly occupying the top tier of the national university ranking of such institutions.

The fact that the Academy was a pioneer in the Russian MBA program market and was the first in Russia to receive international accreditation of its MBA program speaks a lot about the leading position in Russia and the postulate of the institution itself. Also, large number of Russia’s state officials are or have been trained at RANEPA.
